SearchRealEstate.ca ("we", "us", "our") is a Canadian real estate marketing platform. We connect people who are buying, selling, renting or improving property with independent members who advertise on our platform. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and who we share it with. We follow Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy laws.
Who our members are
Members are independent third parties, not our employees or agents. They can include real estate agents and brokers, mortgage brokers, lawyers and notaries, home inspectors, contractors, renovators, cleaners, movers and other service providers, as well as private sellers and landlords. We check member identity and payment before a profile goes live, but we do not supervise or vouch for their services.
Information we collect
- Request forms (for example New Listing Alerts and Free Home Appraisal): your name, email, phone number, property address, city, property details, price range, timeline and any notes you give us.
- Member accounts: your name, email, login details, professional title, business name, business phone, logo, profile photo, bio, and the listings, blog posts and promotional posts you submit. We don't store card numbers; payments are handled by our payment processor (Stripe).
- Automatic data: basic technical information such as browser type, device, pages visited and IP address, used to run and secure the site.
How we use your information
- To respond to your request and match you with a suitable verified member near you.
- To run member accounts, verify members and review listings and posts.
- To send messages about your request or account. We do not send marketing email without your consent.
- To keep the platform secure, prevent fraud and meet legal requirements.
Sharing with verified members (with your consent)
When you send a request form and tick the consent box, you agree that we may share the details you gave us with one or more verified members who serve your area, such as a local Realtor®, so they can contact you by phone, email or text about your request. That member then handles your information under their own privacy practices and professional obligations. You can withdraw your consent at any time (see "Your choices"). Withdrawing stops future sharing but cannot undo sharing that already happened.
Contacting members directly
Listing details, member profiles, blog posts and promotional posts show a member's contact details. If you call, email or message a member through those pages, you are dealing directly with that member, not with us. Whatever you share with them is covered by their privacy practices.
Other sharing
We use trusted service providers for hosting, email delivery and payments. They may only use your information to provide those services to us. Some providers may store data outside Canada, such as in the United States, where it may be subject to local laws. We may also disclose information when the law requires it. We never sell your personal information.
Public content
What members publish, including profiles, listings, blog posts and promotions, is public and can be seen by anyone.
Retention and security
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes above or as the law requires. We use reasonable physical, technical and administrative safeguards, but no system is completely secure.
Your choices and rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your personal information, or withdraw your consent to sharing, by contacting us. We will reply within 30 days. If you're not satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Children
This site is not intended for anyone under 18 (or the age of majority in their province).
